Gender Mainstreaming in Drought Disaster Risk Reduction

Deskripsi:

Climate change has caused global disasters, including drought, with Tana Mbanas village in Central Sumba, Indonesia, being one of the driest and most vulnerable areas. This study examines gender mainstreaming in drought disaster risk reduction, revealing that gender inequality exacerbates daily challenges. Using qualitative methods such as observations, interviews, and literature reviews, the research found that village funds support water management initiatives, including counseling, water-saving practices, and rainwater harvesting. Government agencies and local authorities have taken steps to improve water supply systems, but residents remain highly vulnerable to drought and water scarcity. Educating the community and empowering women are crucial in addressing these issues, and stronger collaboration between government and private institutions is needed to enhance gender equality and resilience.
