The article discusses the significant negative impacts of climate change on aquaculture, highlighting issues such as decreased water availability, deteriorating water quality, increased salinity and temperature, and damage to infrastructure caused by extreme weather events. Indirect effects include a decline in the availability of feed ingredients, like fish meal, which hampers production and sustainability. Adaptation strategies at the farm level involve measures like building pond dikes, nets, drainage systems, and fences to protect production systems from climate-related disasters. At the sector level, strategies include disseminating local knowledge through educational initiatives and advocacy campaigns, while governments promote sector cooperation and develop policies to mitigate the impacts of climate change on aquaculture. Countries in Asia and Africa have implemented national adaptation strategies, such as integrated resource management and the cultivation of salt-tolerant species. The study provides a systematic analysis of the effects of climate change on aquaculture and proposes a framework for adaptation that can guide future planning and policymaking.
