Gender-Sensitive Disaster Risk Raeduction in Indonesia

This report explores the critical importance of integrating a gender perspective into disaster risk reduction (DRR) strategies in Indonesia. Drawing from field research, in-depth interviews, and policy analysis, it highlights the unique challenges faced by women and other vulnerable groups throughout the disaster management cycle—from preparedness to recovery. Although Indonesia has formally committed to gender mainstreaming in disaster governance, the report finds that implementation on the ground remains limited. It calls for more gender-responsive policies, greater inclusion of women in decision-making processes, and the strengthening of local capacity through participatory and community-based approaches. By presenting practical recommendations and examples of good practices, the report contributes to advancing inclusive and equitable disaster resilience across all levels of society.
