Extreme Waves and Coastal Erosion Hazards, Communities Risk Perception and Social Vulnerability: Analysis of Two Villages in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT)
5 Downloads
This study examines risk perception and social vulnerability in two coastal communities in NTT, Borokanda and Mautapaga, using a quantitative approach. Data was collected from 110 households through structured questionnaires and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test. The findings reveal significant differences in ethnicity, disaster experience, and inherited disaster knowledge between the two communities. However, these factors do not influence differences in social vulnerability and risk perception. A high social vulnerability index is identified as the main cause of the communities’ low risk perception.
