his article reviews various approaches to disaster mitigation in Indonesia, focusing on floods, droughts, and the impacts of climate change, with an emphasis on the vital role of local communities. Based on research from the UNDP Accelerator Lab Indonesia, there is a pressing need to integrate local perspectives and grassroots innovations into disaster mitigation policies. The article also highlights the serious impacts of rapid urbanization, which has worsened disaster risks, and underscores the necessity for a more holistic approach that doesn’t solely rely on physical infrastructure but also considers social and environmental aspects.
